why? Well there is no before to this post, just the after. This is the after effects of what happens to about 3-5 birds each year who die at the hands of our front windows. The front of my house is lined with 6 windows, 3 on the ground floor and 3 on the second in the vaulted ceiling. More often than I wish I will hear a huge thud that sounds like a gun shot. It startles me, it startles the dog. It is unnerving to look up and see a ghosting impression of a bird flying spread eagle in the glass window. And outside the casualty will lay still on our sidewalk.
Today I was very sad to see the one bird, who is often times too fast to catch on film, laying on my sidewalk. But call me morbid I had to take his photo while he was up close and personal. His colors are beautiful and his features are delicate. Who knew their neck was red? The long beak looks like it has a fine hair off the tip. Such an amazing little creature.
Oh and my son said, "dad, come see the mummy bird"
