subject: my dining table/work space
why? Can you ask, how does one work in a messy work space? I couldn't take it any more. Reference below the BEFORE picture..... I was paralyzed this morning as I tried to get started working. I realized I was downwind of my own clutter and I couldn't take it anymore. I had to clear the space before I moved forward. I set the 20 minute timer- to give myself some time before I had to get to work. And about an hour later I was ready to work. Reference the AFTER photo below.
Reflections on 365 before and after:
I realize this little 365 project is often more about the overall BEFORE of myself and then by the end of the year I will have an AFTER effect of practicing better habits. Maintaining organization, i.e. remaining de-cluttered would be something I aspire to. I drool when I look at magazines like DWELL or REAL SIMPLE in which every space is clean and simple and de-cluttered and minimalistic. Sigh, it speaks to the designer in me. However, I happen to be one of those creative people with whom living that way doesn't come innately natural to me. Therefore, if I want to live like that I really need to PRACTICE. Imagine that? Practice being organized. I feel at times it is like putting a square peg into a round hole for me.
But I will have you know- that shelf that I decluttered last week and the round table in front of it are still, today - un-cluttered. I have been practicing, and practicing hard- finding a place for everything or else throwing it away. It is really hard work but I am doing it.
