subject: 3 of 61 photos of tomatoes
why? today I had some tomatoes I had left on my counter a bit too long to go into a fresh salad. I was going to take them out to my composter but then decided- they still look like they would taste good and they are usable, just looks like they need to go into a recipe of some kind, maybe a salsa, maybe in a tomato sauce. I thought- surely I can use them in something without wasting them in the composter. I settled on roasting them. But not before I took a significant number of photos. 61 total from beginning to end. But tomatos are so pretty! And they have this beautiful vibrant red color. I could not stop snapping pictures.
Don't worry- I will not show you the 61 photos. However, I decided to share with you WHAT'S IN MY BAG! I have 3 lenses in my camera bag. I decided I wanted to get as close as possible as I could to take the photo of the tomatoes and see. These photos are only before and after because it is before I change lens and after I change lens. But I am at least sharing what is in my bag. By the way- all these images are SOOC.

LENS [EF 50mm f/1.4mm USM] This is my 50mm, I actually really love this lens but don't use it as often as I would like to. I think it is because I have to walk closer or get further away as opposed to using a zoom that zooms at the turn of my wrist. I must be lazy. BUT out of the 3 lenses, by far I cannot get very close to the tomatoes as I can with the other lenses. |

LENS [ EF 17-40mm f/4L USM] This is my "wide angle" I love this lens, always have, it was my first lens. I love that I can get super close but then it is great if I want to photograph a tiny bathroom or a building where I have minimal space to move but need to get alot in my shot. It is just an awesome lens. I may have to upgrade it to something with a lower aperture like: [Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM] BUT look how close I could get to these tomatoes - I mean what is the closest I could stand and then zoom in from there and the detail is great. |

LENS: [EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM] This lens is actually my most recent purchase. I use it often. It is versatile. In hind sight I wished I would have gone wth the lower aperture one but since I bought a new body at the time, and the other lens was going to be another $800-1000, I held off. Please let me read this post next time I buy a lens to remind myself..... Anyhow, it is a good work horse lens for me. It also works when I am trying to photograph a child without being intrusive. I can stand back but zoom in. |
