day 128: blue moon ice cream

day 128: blue moon ice cream
subject: blue moon ice cream
why? when I was a little girl growing up in Ohio and Michigan, we would go to visit my grandparents. I distinctly remember going to ice cream stores and getting blue moon ice cream. It was bright blue, cold, refreshing, and I devoured it. It made me very happy. As I got older, the ice cream stores we would visit eventually stopped serving it. Eventually it either disappeared altogether or I just grew up and no longer wanted it.  Out of the blue, Shawn and I were talking and I told him about blue moon ice cream. I started looking it up on-line and found out that Oscar's Creamery up on Louetta in Spring sold blue moon ice cream. I was excited because it really is a Michigan thing. And it had been years since I had it our thought of it.  The other day we took a road trip so we could go eat it.
BEFORE: the ice cream in the cone and AFTER: the ice cream all over Cash's face. That is the happy face I always had when I ate blue moon ice cream. As an adult, it just tastes to me like vanilla ice cream with blue food coloring. But as a child, it was heavenly...
